SALEM — A man charged recently with secretly filming his nude female roommate was arrested again yesterday when police allegedly found more X-rated images on his computer.

Luis Gonzalez, 28, of 43 Ward St., Salem, was arrested yesterday and held without bail at Middleton Jail after Marblehead police charged him with 14 new counts of secretly videotaping another engaged in sexual activity without consent, and with two counts of possession of child pornography.

The secret-videotaping charge carries a penalty of 21/2 years in jail. In a press statement, Marblehead police Chief James Carney said he believed Gonzalez to be the first person charged with the offense since secret videotaping was outlawed in May.

Gonzalez has been living with his mother since Aug. 9, when a woman he shared an apartment with in Marblehead found a video camera Gonzalez allegedly hid in a flower pot in her bedroom. The hidden camera captured Gonzalez's roommate in various states of undress and also filmed her having sex with her boyfriend, police said.

Peabody police officer Robert Faltera pored over computer hard drives and software yesterday, uncovering the new images, police said. The investigation yielded more nude images of Gonzalez's former roommate on computers, portable hard drives and videotapes confiscated from the Marblehead apartment. Faltera is a certified computer forensic investigator assigned to the North Eastern Law Enforcement Council computer lab at the Peabody police station.

In all, police found 341 still images and 45 video clips during the searches, said Marblehead Patrolman Cary Gaynor. Gaynor and Detective Jonathan Lunt arrested Gonzalez at 1:22 p.m. yesterday at his workplace, the Home Depot on Trader's Way in Salem.

Gonzalez was scheduled to appear in Lynn District Court this morning for arraignment. Gaynor said District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett was seeking a grand jury indictment of Gonzalez.

"It's always a possibility when you're dealing with child pornography," Gaynor said.
